I lived for about 13 years in Columbus, Ohio, and since 1972, June has meant that it’s time for ComFest. This long weekend of music, food, poetry and art meant long days dancing around and lounging in the grass with friends while enjoying new offerings from food vendors and brewhouses- and a new, giant pink mug every year. The vendors and the amazing clothing were always one of my favorite parts of Comfest; since it was usually one of the first sweltering weekends of summer, the goal was to look good, but be as comfortable as possible.
That combination of fashion purposes is one of my favorite things about festival clothing. Light, breathable fabrics come together with eye-catching patterns and colors to keep your clothing as bright as your mood. The beauty of most festivals is the amazing spirit of community- from events like ComFest to Coachella; Life is Beautiful to Burning Man, the underlying festival spirit the celebration of community in all of its forms.
The overwhelming air of acceptance at festivals is a balm to the soul- no matter who you are, what you’re wearing, how you’re shaped or what you look like, the music, the speakers, the celebration and the atmosphere are the primary focus, and the beauty inside everyone is brought out.

Wonderful piece like these help enhance all of that by keeping you cool (physically), and keeping you looking cool and breezy (emotionally). The bright patterns and colors cannot help but put you in a good mood, ready to dance, learn, and celebrate all that brought you there in the first place. In addition to these great pieces, don’t forget to grab a great shoe, a relaxed bag, and maybe even a great hat to keep the sun’s rays of your smiling face. Then relax and enjoy the sun, the sounds, and your amazing, rockin’ summer!
